The French Croix de Guerre (Cross of War) is a Military award created in 1915 for acts of heroism during combat with the enemy. It is commonly bestowed upon foreign military forces as either a unit or individual award. In the US military, it is notoriously difficult to verify, as foreign awards were not typically recorded in personal records after World War II, and the 1973 National Archives fire made it even more challenging.Pin mounted.
