Historic coin collection from the Mint Mark Collection in original flip open packaging. In 1909, the Lincoln Cent was introduced to honor the 100th anniversary of Lincoln's birth.  The obverse featured a portrait of Lincoln, while the reverse showed the denomination flanked by two ears of wheat. The coin's designer, Victor David Brenner added his initials to the reverse, creating a wave of criticism from the public. The mint immediately removed the initials only to add them again in 1918. 1958 was the last year the Wheat Ear cent was minted at the Philadelphia and Denver Mints. The San Francisco Mint ended the coin production in 1955.

This coin set originally belonged to a coin collector who stored it in our safe for years. Eventually we acquired his collection in the condition he left it and other than sealing it in plastic it is sold as he left it.
