The U.S. Mint’s presidential medals were often presented to American Indian chiefs and other important leaders at events such as treaty signings in the earliest days of the republic. This 1801 President Thomas Jefferson Peace Bronze Coin is in excellent shape.
This coin originally belonged to a coin collector who stored it in our safe for years. Eventually we acquired his collection in the condition he left it and other than sealing it in plastic it is sold as he left it (in it's original packaging if applicable).

- Obverse: a side view of the president’s head and shoulders. Inscriptions are “TH. JEFFERSON,” “PRESIDENT OF THE UNITED STATES” and “A.D. 1801.”
- Reverse: a symbolic friendship handshake between the American government and the Indian nations - Above the hands are a crossed pipe and tomahawk, with the inscription “PEACE AND FRIENDSHIP” intertwined through the design
- Composition: Bronze
