John Quincy Adams, the sixth president of the United States (1825-1829), was also known for his influential role as the eighth secretary of state (1817-1825). With an extensive background in diplomacy and politics, Adams represented Massachusetts in both chambers of the United States Congress and served as an ambassador. As the eldest son of former president John Adams and First Lady Abigail Adams, he initially aligned with the Federalist Party but later joined the Democratic-Republican Party and eventually the Whig Party in the mid-1830s.

I do not know if these coins were ever circulated or not and they have not been graded. Each Coin Sold Separately.

  • Composition: 88.5% copper, 6% zinc, 3.5% manganese, 2% nickel
  • Diameter: 26.5 mm

  • Edge: lettered
  • Obverse: includes the inscriptions “John Quincy Adams,” “6th PRESIDENT,”  and the years of his presidential term “1825-1829” 
  • Reverse inscriptions include “UNITED STATES OF AMERICA,”  "In God We Trust" and the denomination “$1”
  • Edge Positions:
    • Position A -The edge lettering is upside down when the coin's portrait is facing up. The coin is positioned at the bottom.
    • Position B -The edge lettering reads normally when the coin's portrait is facing up. The coin is positioned at the top.
  • Coin #1 & 2 are Position A: Date and mint mark are located on the edge inscription of the coin along  the mottoes  “E PLURIBUS UNUM,” "In God We Trust" and stars are upside down
  • Coin #2 is Position B: Date and mint mark are located on the edge inscription of the coin along  the mottoes  “E PLURIBUS UNUM,” "In God We Trust" and stars are right side up
