Under the Nazi Regime, the colors black, white, and red were reinstated as the Imperial colors. Cockades were added to most military headgear, except the SS, as adornment. Post the fall of the Third Reich, both West and East Germany utilized cockades that mirrored those of the Weimar Republic. East Germany featured their national emblem including the hammer and compass encircled by a ring of rye on a black/red/gold flag represented on the cockade.
All of the royal houses of Europe had a distinctive cockade worn by their staff, military and followers.
