This vintage American Navy tunic is outfitted with one patch on the left arm and one patch on the right: WWII USN Aviation Electronics Technician 2rd Class Chevron (left arm) and Patron 31 Squadron Tab (right arm). The uniform consisted of a pull-over shirt with a neck flap which had white lines around its perimeter and two stars one on each corner. The shirt had one small front top pocket. It was open and did not have any protective cover.
Per one wonderful customer helping me get my information straight: On the right sleeve just below the shoulder is a patch PATRON31. Stands for Patrol Squadron 31. This patch is referred to as a Navy Uniform Rocker Tab Patch. It was introduced into the U.S. Navy in 1951 and became mandatory to wear on the uniform Jan 1959. VP 31 was established June 31, 1960 and disestablished Nov 1, 1993.
