In 1942, the US Navy commissioned a novel protective helmet for "exposed deck personnel" tasked with speaking on sound-powered phones. The USN MK-2 was designed to be worn with both a gas mask and binoculars, crafted from non-magnetic Hadefield manganese steel - the largest helmet ever used in US service. Great item for anyone's collection.
Features of the Helmet:
- Condition: USED Good - does have some rust (see pics) and does not include the chinstrap, gas mask or sound-powered phone.
- Size: 11" Side x 13" Front to Back
- Inside protection is there but where attached shows signs of rust (see pics)
- Weighs: apx. 4 lbs
